Velvet

Lancaster, 1971-1975

pic

Velvet was based in Lancaster. The band was led by Jon Armstrong. Prior to the band's formation he played some solo shows locally.

The band included Armstrong (guitar), Dave Whitaker (drums), Scott Scholtisek (bass) amd Rod Tippet (organ, accordion). Rod was from Canal Winchester (now a exurb of Columbus) while the others were from Lancaster.

The band played locally from 1971 to 1974. In 1972 they recorded a 45 at Appalachia Sound. It's a cool record with late garage/teen hard rock influences. There's no direct connection for the band and Louisiana that we've discovered despite the Cajun label name.

Later in 1972
