Cleveland, 1971-5

Sweetleaf was a major draw in Cleveland's college bar circuit. The band was formed from members of Alice Blue and Cargo. The (usually) six members of Sweetleaf played contemporary rock and included horns off and on during their existence. Sweetleaf recorded some demos at Motion Picture Sound, and got a deal with Musicor records to release a 45. The record sounds like Cleveland rock in 1972/3, with power pop and glam elements. The 45 got some local airplay, but ended up as the only release they had.

Guitarist Cy Sulak has continued to be a well known musician in the Cleveland area, playing in several bands and hosting a long running 'jam night' in a west suburban club.
