Soul Searchers

Toledo, 1969-70

Ad from July 15, 1970

The Soul Searchers were a band led by brothers Kim Ross (guitar) and Keynon Ross (drums). There may have been some other family members involved.

They had a number of live appearances in Toledo during 1969 and 1970 then disappeared.

They made one record and it's pretty nifty. The A side is a cover of the Sly and the Family Stone LP track and the other side is an original written by Kim. The Sly cover features a kid lead singer. The flip side has an older singer and mid tempo 'psychedelic soul' vibe. The label was Boat Rocker which if taken at face value is part of the Toledo Spangle records. The band's name appears as Soul Searchers W.G.R. which is probably a production mistake as they were always billed as the Soul Searchers (without  the initials). W. G. R. is likely the father's initials.
