Sketches

Cleveland, 1975-1979

Sketches was a late 1970s band led by brothers Bob and Jerry Bruno, who had played in other top local bands, Bobby Jay and the Castaways, Selective Service, Bruno-Whittington-Bruno, and Frenz. Sketches aimed at the still lucrative NE Ohio nightclub scene and did quite well.

The band included Bob on drums, Jerry on guitar and sax, Dave Hansel on guitar, Jack Hrusch on bass, Ken Zahorchek on trumpet and vocals, and Pete Tokar on keyboard and vocals.

In 1977 they recorded some original songs and released two of them on the Jerry's Denim records (same label that released Flatbush). The A side "I Dig The Girl" was an uptempo song with a throwback soul style. The record sold OK locally and even made a little splash in the UK Northern Soul scene.
