Record Player

Dayton, 1975-early 1980s

Record Player played the uptempo funky grooves that were the sound of their hometown. The original band included Larry Kidd (trumpet), Keith Nash (drums), Charles "Mabe" Jackson (lead vocals), Lamar Webster (bass, vocals), Dallas Webster (lead guitar), Delbert "Cool Papa" Jones (rhythm guitar, vocals), and Michael "Slyde" Jennings (trombone, vocals).

They made one locally distributed 45 in 1979, but it's a really good one. Michael Jennings is the songwriter.

Michael Jennings left the group in 1980 to join the Ohio Players. According to another source, the group added some new members and moved to Los Angeles, but we don't have confirmation.
