Pharoahs (Pharoads)

Middletown, 1963-5

pic

The Pharoahs were one of two bands that made 45s on the Jay-Em label (there is a third 45 described as Christmas narration). The band is listed as the Pharoads on the record. As seen in the ad, Jay-Em seemed to have ambitious plans but seemed to have disappeared by 1966.

As for the Pharoahs, their record is a good R&B rocker (vocal and instrumental sides), and like the Little Kim and Personalles record, has a very appealing raw energy. There is no writer credits or copyright/publishing to trace. The record credits the Val-Lors on the vocal side, probably a backing vocal group.
