the Infatuators
Lorain, early 1960s

The Infatuators were an R&B vocal group from Lorain. There is not a lot of info known to us, ither than the info from tis newspaper story. The group leader was Walter Atwood, with Norman Bohannon (bass), John Wilson (baritone), Nate Johnson (first tenor), and William Johnson (second tenor). Most of not all the members were in their early 20s and had graduated from Lorain high schools.
The group recorded two of Walter Atwood's songs for Bob Selllers and Destiny records. Like other records on the label, it was likely done at Audio Recording in Cleveland. The backing band was the Leesures. The record was released on Destiny and was enough of a local success to get picked up for national release by Vee Jay records, a Chicago R&B label.

There's a couple mentions of the group in the Lorain paper but beyond that, nothing. Atwood was listed as performing with a gospel group, the Harmonizing Queens, in 1960. Norman Bohannon's name appears a couple times singing in public in the mid 1960s.
