Finite Minds

Athens, 1966-7

The Finite Minds were Ohio University students. Guitarist Joe Dolce was from Painesville. The other members included lead singer Tom Jividen,  Richard Graves (bass), and Gary Gans (lead guitar).

The band played mostly R&B covers for school parties where the students wanted dance music. In 1966 they recorded a couple songs at Musicol that were cut onto an acetate. "Say It's Alright" is excellent teen garage rocker.

In 1967 Tom Jividen quit the band, and while looking for another singer, Gary and Joe decided to partner with another OU band, the St. James Doorknob, to form the band that became Headstone Circus/Sugar Creek.

In 1965 Jividen and Graves were in the Twinners, a band of Athens HS students tha also included Mike Cunningham, later in the Oceans.
