Witch Hazel

Akron, 1969-70

IWitch Hazel was started by Walt Franz after he split with Hobson's Choice. Witch Hazel was a horn band, playing songs by Blood, Sweat, and Tears, and Chicago.

The band members included Walt Franz (sax, lead vocals), Tony Commiso (Hammond B3 organ), Dave Roby (guitar), Dan Toomey (bass), Dave Malick (drums), Rick Reynolds (trombone), Dennis Johnston (trumpet), and Tom Wood (trumpet). Later, Dave Broche replaced Dave Roby on guitar.

The band was listed playing a concert on Aug 23, 1970 in Barberton, with pre-stardom Alice Cooper headlining.

Tony Commiso is deceased.

Thanks to Tom Wood.
