Soul Sounds Unlimited (Unl)
Cincinnati, mid-late 60s
The Soul Sounds Unlimited were from Cincinnati. The group included Leon Brooks-Isley, Dennis Grace, Richard Williams, and Carlos Richards. The group performed locally for a few years.
The group only made one 45 but what a record, featuring a fabulous soul ballad "Lost In A Dream" and the uptempo "Word Called Love". The 45 was recorded at June Recording in suburban Cincinnati, an operation that had issued a few country 45s in the early 1960s. On the record, "Unlimited" got edited down to "Unl".
Leon Brooks-Isley was related to the Isley Brothers family who had started in Cincinnati.
