Sandy Chapin

Fremont, 1965

Sandra - Sandy Chapin was from Fremont. There is no record of her performing live, but her husband at the time, Jack Chapin, was a high school teacher and heavily involved with local arts, especially musical theatre, so she was probably a performer and singer.

She recored a 45 for Bob Brown's Courier records in 1965. The A side was a cover of the Supremes' minor hit "Breath Taking Guy". The Vandaliers are the backing band and some horns were added (supposedly dubbed at Cleveland Recording). She would have been in her 20s and sounds more like a young woman than a teen. Bob used the Empire label name, a short lived label name lasting for two records. Sandy's record was the last Ohio recording before his two year relocation to Maryland.

There is no connection to Sandy Chapin, the widow of folk/pop star Harry Chapin, despite some online reports.
