Mass Media

Mansfield, 1971-8?

Mass Media was formed and led by Clarence Sanderfer, who had been in bands starting in Mansfield's Malabar High School.
Gary McCoy and George Hayes were some of the other members. The band went by a different name or two.

The band recorded one 45 on 1976, pressed (and probably recorded) at Musicol. The songs "Good Ole Funky Music: and  "Party Time USA"are uptempo dance grooves that sound a bit like the dance funk sounds coming out of Dayton. The record was issued first on their own Freedom label, a nod to the US bicentennial on 1976, with mailing address in nearby Lexington, OH. The record was picked up for national release by GRT records, an odd acquisition for them as they were mostly a country label by 1976 depsite having released 45s by Cleveland's Rastus and the Exceptionals.

More details welcome...
