Laura Lee Perkins

Elyria,  late 1950s

Born in West Virginia, Laura Lee Perkins moved to Elyria as a teenager. One day she stopped into the studios at WEOL and recorded some demos. The demos got into the hands of famed Cleveland DJ Bill Randle, thourgh WEOL DJ Jeff Baxter. Randle contacted several record companies and Laura ended up signing with Imperial records where she recorded several songs, including a couple of her own compositions.

Laura went to Los Angeles to record and ended up staying there for a while, as Imperial released 2 45s to little success. With no follow up pending, Laura moved to Detroit, ending her brief Ohio career.

In 2008 she returned to 'the scene', performing her 45 sides and other rockin' songs at the 2008 Viva Las Vegas festival. IN 2012 a compilation was issued of all her vintage recordings.
