Five Cashmeres / V Cashmeres
Cleveland, 1960-65
The V Cashmeres, also listed as Five Cashmeres were late in the vocal group style, active
into the mid 1960s...but then they were from Cleveland's east side
where the greaser group style has never died.
The group's lead singer was Paul Pestello, a student at Collinwood HS. The other members were Anthony Sternisa, Roger Gates (tenor) and Sonny Grillo (baritone).
The group recorded a 45 in 1962 with a classic vocal group sound. The songs were written by Anthony Sternisa.
Paul Pestello joined Bocky and the Visions in late 1964/early 1965. Roger Gates was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1964. Anthony Sternisa is deceased.
