the Denems

Erlanger/Boone County, KY, 1965-8

The Denems were big attraction in the greater Cincinnati area for a couple years with their unique act of performing all Beatles songs. The Denems drummer was Steve Belew, who later picked up guitar, changed his name to Adrian Belew, and gained international fame. The band, a foursome - of course! included Robbie Workman (bass), Dave Behle (rhythm guitar), and Terry Dalhover (lead guitar).

According to a 2000 interview with Adrian, he sang the Lennon/Starr vocals, with Behle doing the Harrsion vocals and Workman doing the McCartney songs

The Denems never released anything during their existence, but they recorded some original songs at King. One cut, "Girl", got some airplay and was officially released by Adrian on a collection of his recordings in the mid 90s. The Denems had reunions in 1997 and 2000, with the four original members. The reunion shows included the Wanted and the Bad Seeds.
