Cargo

Cleveland, 1970-71

Cargo  included guitarist Cy Sulak, bassist Mike Solarz - both from Alice Blue - with Bill Phillipi (drums), Bruce Kowalski (keyboards), Ron Latarewicz (trumpet) and lead singer John Faenza. There were 7 members total, including a couple horn players. The band played local clubs, including a highlight show opening for Buddy Miles at the Cyrus Erie West. A review of the show mentions they played covers of "Ohio", "Bitch", and "Sing a Simple Song" along with a couple originals, "Stallion" and "Too Soon Too Fast".

Like the predecessor band Alice Blue, Cargo lasted for about a year, late 1970 to the fall of 1971. Sulak, Solarz, Phillipi, Kowalski, and Latarewicz restarted as Sweetleaf, which was winning combination as they quickly became a top local band. There doesn't seem to be any recordings.
