Caesar and the Romans

Monroe, MI mid 1960s

This band recorded a couple 45s for the Hi-Note label in Toledo. They were from Monroe, MI, about halfway between Toledo and Detroit. We don't know much about Hi-Note records, except it was not the band's vanity label. It's possible they were recorded at A&T in Toledo.

The band included brothers Bill and Lenny Liparoto. Tom Treece joined the band after the 45s. The band a lot in Monroe and Detroit.

The 1st 45 includes covers of Carl Perkins'  My True Love and Fats Domino's/ Dave Bartholomew's Let The Four Winds Blow, two songs not in a lot of teen band repertroires in 1965. The second 45 are two originals which have a lot more British Invasion style.

The band lasted into the late 1960s, long enough to play shows with Detroit legends like the MC5 and Bob Seger. Lenny Liparoto was killed in the Vietnam war in 1968.

Discography:

There is a third 45 on Hi-Note that is not by the Caesar and the Romans, although we don't have confirmed details
