Animal Farm

Animal Farm was a Cleveland band from summer of 1971 until the summer of 1972. The band included Gary Heil (trumpet, trombone), Frank Loyke (organ and lead vocals), Sam Messina (bass), Bob Montani (guitar), John Casale (drums), John Southwick (sax and lead vocals), Abe LaMarca (lead vocals, organ, trombone) and Dan Szanyi (trumpet). The band members had strong histories. John Casale had been in the Motions, the Convention, and the Naturals. Abe LaMarca had been in Featherwood, and Dan Szanyi was in Windemere Storage.
The band played at the Corral and the Funky Broadway, but their most prominent gig was a long standing Saturday night gig at the Longhorn.
