Goldfinger

Columbus, 1970-1

Goldfinger was formed out of the Trollie - "Goldfinger is an easy one. Dave Smith didn't want to "go psychedelic" and was more old school. Mike Haines and I got Chuck Terry to play drums and (this other guy...my sincerest apologies! please come to Buckeye Beat for further apologies!) on keyboards. Later Bob Mooney replaced him. We played rock and soul but also ventured into heavier stuff like "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". At least three of us sang lead. Chuck had a particularly high voice which helped a lot. Sometimes we strayed into "jazzier" stuff like Chicago or Blood, Sweat and Tears but I tried to resist that stuff. Mike even would sing "Old Man River" a cappella to great effect. Three Dog Night, blues, rock, you name it. Kind of "finding ourselves", as it were." - Bob Hill
